Personal Note: I started riding on my own and with a local cycling club in the summer of 2004. Cycling was a perfect fit for me from the beginning. I love the combination of individual and group effort and the physical and technical challenges it presents. I still think back to the early days when I just wanted to hang on with the fast guys for a few more minutes each Tuesday night. I received a lot of guidance and support from the seasoned riders in the Harpeth Bike Club those first couple of years. They really helped me develop as a cyclist, and they kept telling me that I should race. I met my husband in 2005 at my first Century ride, the 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge in Chattanooga, TN. We spent a lot of time on our bikes in our first couple of years together, but then work commitments in 2006 and 2007 and a baby in 2008 took us off the road for awhile. We decided to get back out there in 2009, and late that summer I met Lisa Starmer. She decided that I should come and race with her, and it didn’t take her long to sell me on how much I would enjoy training and racing with some of the strongest women in the state of Tennessee. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to ride with the women of Team Belladium. We all work together and support one another to create opportunities for individual and team success. They are an amazing group of women!
