Personal Note: I had no idea what I was getting myself into. When I was asked to join Team Belladium, I had just completed Ironman Louisville. Triathlon training had filled my free time for four years, and was I was thinking “now what?” Well, bike racing, that’s what. I discovered many things during my first season of racing. I welcomed new friends into my life, some awe-inspiring women who I cherish, and super nice folks from the roadie world. I discovered my strengths and weaknesses on my bike. And I found that the one thing I was most scared of turns out to be my favorite part of racing…crits! Above all, however, it turns out that the hidden gem of racing is the team. I was, and continue to be, completely blown away by the internal connections and unity of Team Belladium. I thought racing was an individual thing, but as I’ve said…I had no idea.
